I searched the thread but couldn't find this anywhere but... Apple is having a sale in Australia too!!! We never ever get these kind of sales and now we are getting one. 1st of December for us but WE TOO ARE GETTING A SALE.
After a quick look around the forums it appears as though other places like the UK are getting a sale on the 1st too. Nice to see Apple going a bit more global with this stuff.

I just don't see Apple creating a situation where they're going to have 2 separate refresh dates for the iPhone. Whatever they do, they're going to make it so they refresh ALL of their iPhones around June of every year. Otherwise they're going to put one of the carriers at a distinct disadvantage because Verizon will have the latest technology for up to 6 months before it goes to ATT--which will hurt apple sales overall.
Actually I think this is what might happen, eventually. But rather than AT&T getting the same spec iPhone "A" 6 months later, they will get the "B" with some improvements, then the next year Verizon gets the "C" 6 months after that and so on... Where they will just keep leap frogging each other. I think the market is moving too fast for Apple to continue with just yearly updates.

Actually a crappy story is held against many movies, tv shows, books, and etc. That's why we call them crappy and they fail. Case in recent point, the drubbing that Skyline is getting, besides it's spectacular trailer. It looks good, but it came in fourth in movies this week, and word of mouth may make that as high as it goes. The complaint? Weak stories, characters, and a truly stupid & frustrating ending.
Like I said, most movies, tv show, etc has some sort of ridiculous illogical event going on to move the storyline along. Just as long as it isn't so ridiculous, they can get away with it. I don't think MW2 storyline had anything that was that ridiculous to make it bad.
I pity anyone trying to figure MW2's story that hasn't played the original MW. I admit I was surprised to find out that MW2's story had something to do with the first one. Not because it was a clever plot twist, but because it was pulled out of thin air. There was no fore shadowing allowing the player a chance to figure things out, as usual stories do, it was just BAM!
Why were you surprised? Black Ops was just a continuation of WaW with a focus on the Cold War this time. Why is it ridiculous to think MW2 would be tied to MW's storyline?
The first MW was more stream lined with only two storylines, eventually dovetailing into one. Things were easier to follow, and the moments far more memorable. That race thru the tilted ship, the crawling thru the grass by the Russian army, holding them off later by yourself, and that final car chase were truly memorable moments. MW2 and now Black Ops are just one forgettable blur, that I only recall the trudging thru, not the fascination of what I saw.
MW2 will be remembered for me at least because of the vivid battle scenes in DC since I am from the DC area and constantly passed by the buildings you see in the game. Then you have No Russian because of the shock of what that mission "made" you do( A) They gave you the option to skip it B) You didn't have to shoot to pass the mission).

The conservative side does not seem believe in the "teach a man to fish" crap. They talk about it, but rarely practice it. For them it's more like this, "Go learn to fish, and if you can't afford the education, too bad."

yeah i know! i don't know what's going on these days. apple is only concerned with iphone and ipad, but developers gotta have systems to build the apps with!

- carriers preventing you from updating to the latest OS (or if you are lucky only delay it for a long time)
- android was the only mobile platform where the remote wipe had to be used once for 'bad' apps

I wonder if they are letting users view the ads "for free" or if the companies are getting charged for each click inside the gallery.
I really hope the companies budget isn't being spent that way, as it means even less iAd inventory for other applications.
For the companies it probably doesn't matter either way, although if it was free for them then it is better for them and might make them buy more ad inventory.

The iPhone 4 also has edge-to-edge glass, that isn't new!
Anyway, I think that the bigger the screen within the current iPhone frame (without making the actual device any bigger), the better!
This will also be easier to adopt for developers, as "old resolution" apps can run with a small black border at the top and on the sides, while new apps can take advantage of a few extra pixels, if the pixel count changes.
If the pixel count doesn't change, but rather stays the same and the pixels get bigger, then the "retina-ness" of the display will get somewhat diluted, but maybe that would even be noticeable at this small scale.

The size change to the screen that is being suggested is about 8% which on the 326 dpi current screen would see a drop to pretty much bang on 300dpi.

It's not as though people look at magazines thinking "Euuurgh! Look at all those hideous dots!"
And yes, even if you held a magazine the same distance from your face as an iPhone :p

The double pixel bump from 3 to 4 avoided this because it was a straight doubling of rez so apps could be elegantly(ish) upscaled. Adding a few extra pixels would achieve very little and be extremely annoying for the app devs.

Preferred the iOS style scroll bars. Having the thin bar inside the right side gutter looks very odd.

1) You don't have kids, or,
2) You've never been to a well child check. Age-appropriate assessment of growth, nutrition, school issues, home safety, social behavior, vaccines, etc. are all part of a routine well child check.
Save your self-righteous NRA indignation, recognize there are irresponsible gun owners who need to be reminded of gun safety in the home, and put in your 2 cents worth where you have some expertise.
So:

Windows are purely OS for "work enviroment". OSX is for casual stuff.
Cant imagine using freakin Miranda/ICQ/Trillian/Digsby piece of crap with MS Movie Maker and so on.
Same as i cant imagine using Outlook/Excel on Mac OS.
Windows is like Semi, gigantic ugly looking utility vehicle. Mac OS is like convertible ferrari - nice pus.sy magnet for everyday casual use.
