thank you, apple, for weeding out the companies whose business model depends on selling my information to junk-mailers.

And Apple having your address, phone number, e-mail address, creditcard is fine with you? And if yes, why is ok for Apple to have this information but not for the FT?
The difference is not whether or not they have it, the difference is whether or not they can sell it to "Companies which offer something they think I might be interested in".

That's only 1,258,291.2 gigabytes ... If each customer gets, say, 500 megabytes allocated, that's enough for 2,516,582 customers.
To be safe more like enough for 2.5 million customers @ 500 megabytes (which isn't very high, I would hope for more like 5000 megabytes/5 gigabytes, but then that's only enough for like 251,658 customers).
Point is, they better have another 10+ Pb along the way ...
You really think they allocate storage per user like allocated real estate per home owner?
deduplication + thin provisioning + compression applied to all that storage and your calculations are way off!

I have a question for those of you who get your wallpapers from wallbase. No matter what broswer or OS I use, and even though I am logged in, I still cannot get ANY wallbase pics to load. I click the thumbnail to view it big and it opens in a new tab, but it doesn't show anything.
Am I missing something?

Hi all, I'm looking for some nice Simpsons iTunes artwork, specifically season 12, but any generic square graphic would be nice. Can anyone help me locate some?

Google Maps is the gold standard, but Apple has been known to overthrow standards :)
That's the right kind of thinking, and should be the default thinking going in to any conversation about Apple's ideas.

Any chance they drop the price by $50 or something?
I just don't see how they will sell too many of these unless there is at least a small incentive.

You do realize thatEurope's population is expected to fall catastrophically due to a low birth rate
Even if I assume this unsourced soundbite is true, there is a missing phrase: "without intervention."
If it really came down to it, the EU (or any other country/countries with a declining birth rate) could enact any number of policies or incentives to bolster the population, including making it easier for gay couples to adopt. So what?
The intervention should not be forbidding or discriminating against a group because of their sexual behavior. If it's all about the birthin' then they better start taking a hard look at those hetero scofflaws who don't want to have kids, too. *Gasp*

I currently have 850 family plan with unlimited family texting. I tried to sign up with a CS rep, but I was told that my 850 min family was not eligible. I guess that I will keep the extra 150 min rather than drop to the 700 min family plan. Has others with 850 family plan been able to add this new messaging plan?

Looking for a mini to use with my home theater. Mostly for .avi/.mkv playback. Intel only, combo drive is fine. Ram/HD unimportant, as I have plenty of ram and will be using an external.
Thanks :)

This is what the big dogs use. And there is good reason for it. If you cut with more than one person on a project you can't beat a unity or an ISIS.
Final cut is fine. But it's no AVID. So when people say Final Cut is the industry standard on here they aren't talking about the Film & Television industry.
Final cut made a big jump for a couple years because of producers trying to cut cost in post but you get what you pay for.

If I dress like a nerd is it ok for people to give me wedgies, tape "kick me" signs on my back and give me swirlies in the bathroom? Was I asking for it?
Well, that's what you get for wearing a Star Trek uniform.
